About “Campfires with Jesus”

by Mackenzie Garfield

{It is not my attention to either encourage or discourage you from going to church. This is just my story.}

“Anyone who claims to be in the Light but hates a brother or sister is still in the darkness.” I John 2.9

When I went out on my patio into the freezing December night, I wasn’t planning on starting a relationship with God.  I was a desperate woman, with a husband deteriorating from MS, seeking hope.  I couldn’t stand the pain of being out there, alone.

 But I started praying, who knows what all I said, sobbing all the way through the prayers.  I don’t remember how long it took until I began to realize there was Someone out there with me, and this I knew because the unspeakable loneliness and the unbearable pain subsided, and I began to feel, not happy, and definitely not at peace, but ok.

That was my first campfire with Jesus. From then on, every weekend I had campfires with Him, (unless we were in the hospital) gradually carrying a monitor out there to be able to hear Jake. Little did I know how much I would be changed at the fires, the horrors awaiting Jake and me, yet the miracles God would perform among us . . .

You should know when the fires began, I was having a breakdown due to being caught up in an online codependent relationship with a younger man and ex con, my older brother was on the run from the law, and I was addicted to a MMORPG game. I had also started smoking again after having quit for many years but was still remaining sober and clean.

Soon, I’ll be submitting CWJ to some publishers! Feel free to check back soon for more posts and/or add your email below to get updates on posts and other news regarding my novel. It’s free to subscribe.

No matter who you are, I sincerely hope “Campfires with Jesus” will be an inspiration to you.  Thanks. Micky
